 708 Art Major 1 I 9-10-11-12 full year 4 periods 5 credits

If you love art and really want to improve your skills this is the class for you. By looking at artists from through out history for inspira­tion, you will learn to use a variety of media and techniques in the areas of drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture. You will gain knowledge in both the creative and technical areas of creating your own artwork. In this course you will be introduced to the idea of keeping a sketchbook, with weekly additions.

709 Art Major 2 I 10-11-12 full year 4 periods 5 credits

Prerequisite: Art Major 1

Continuing to build on the techniques and skills learned in the Major 1, you will expand in the areas of drawing, painting printmaking and ceramics and work towards developing a personal style. You will continue to maintain a sketchbook with weekly additions, develop­ing ideas for use in and outside of class.

710 Art Major 3 I 11-12 full year 4 periods 5 credits

Prerequisite: Art Major 2

This advanced studio class will push your abilities further with an eye towards developing a body of work in drawing, painting, print­making and sculpture. Emphasis is on mastering techniques, in depth exploration of art concepts and personal expression. In addition to keeping a sketchbook, you will have homework assignments that begin preparation for portfolio work.

711 Honors Art Major 4 H 12 full year 4 periods 5 credits

Prerequisite: Art Major 3 and department approval

This advanced course offers you the challenge of difficult problems in drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture in a variety of media. The emphasis in this class is to develop your portfolio for college admission. The assignments are rigorous and in depth, giving you the opportunity to showcase your best work.
